Requiem (Delirium, #3) - Lauren Oliver ***Pandemonium spoilers***Well, what is there to say about this book... To be completely honest, I wanted to much more from it than I got. After finishing Pandemonium, I was so anxious to find out what happened to Lena, Julian, and Alex, but when I started reading Requiem, I couldn't help being a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there are things I really liked about Requiem. Seeing the dynamic between Lena and Alex at the beginning of the story was really interesting. After the first books, we knew how Lena felt about Alex and how much it hurt her to be without him in
Raven - Lauren Oliver I am seriously a sucker for these Delirium short stories, especially when they're always about such interesting characters! Raven gave so much insight into her character. Even though she's present in the other books, you don't get to see much of her past. In the short, you find out about when she first came to the Wilds, how she met Tack, and what happened when she rescued Lena and Julian. This story, for me, gave Raven a more human side - her suffering was more evident. It brought back all my Blue feels though. And then (Requiem spoiler)SHE'S PREGNANT AND THEN SHE DIES. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME LAUREN OLIVER. WHY. Seeing her relationship with Tack was super sweet though. It was hinted that they were romantically involved throughout Pandemonium but it was finally said outright. Tack and Raven are definitely my new otp. Raven was probably my favorite out of all the Delirium short stories, but that's probably just because Raven is my favorite of the three characters I've read so far. The shorts definitely add a lot to these characters when thinking back to the books.
What Really Happened in Peru (The Bane Chronicles, #1) - Cassandra Clare I absolutely LOVED this story. I mean, normally in TMI/TID we only get one sassy warlock, but this one had three - THREE SASSY WARLOCKS! What more can a girl ask for? The stories and essentially all the dialogue were hilarious and despite all the humor, the story also provided further insight into Magnus as a character (well, for me at least). The only thing that I wasn't *thrilled* about was the ending. My initial reaction to the end of this was something along the lines of: "WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE?!?!", but after putting more thought into it, it actually seems pretty appropriate. I seriously cannot wait for more of The Bane Chronicles and hopefully more Ragnor Fell, who may actually be sassier than Magnus.

Annabel (Delirium Series)

Annabel (Delirium Series) - This was absolutely perfect! I was so excited to read a story about Annabel, Lena's mother, and I was not disappointed by this story. Finding out about Annabel's life was so heartbreaking yet beautiful at the same time. What really shocked me was the tie in with Thomas. I hadn't realized that Thomas from the Crypts was the same Thomas that Rachel was in love with before the cure. It kind of made me wonder if that was why he was helping Annabel, or something like that. (I'm probably just reading too far into it.) For people who haven't read Delirium yet, I recommend waiting until after book one to read this story (even though it's listed as #0.5). I definitely wouldn't have wanted to know all this background before reading book one. Overall, this story was great and, for me, added a lot of depth to Annabel and even Lena.
Impostor (Slide #2) - Jill Hathaway When I found out that Slide had a sequel, I was so excited - I really wanted to see more of Vee and Rollins and all the other characters. Impostor did not disappoint me. As gripping as Slide was, Impostor was even more so. While I was able to figure out the mystery in Slide this one was a mystery for me up until the reveal! The wrap up with Diane, Vee's mother's friend, seemed a bit abrupt to me. (Maybe there will be a book #3? I hope so!) Overall, I really enjoyed this book with all it's twists and turns and mystery, and I look forward to reading more work from this author.
Slide (Slide, #1) - Jill Hathaway I got this as a kindle daily deal and I've been wanting to read it for a while, but I kept putting it off. After finally reading it, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The story is gripping and kept me guessing who was responsible for all of the deaths. I really loved the characters and how they all interacted. It was very realistic even though the idea of "sliding" isn't. I was a little disappointed by the end, what with Zane dying and not being able to tell Vee the truth and then not getting a full resolution with Rollins (I really just wanted them to get together in the epilogue rather than just have him come over), but, overall, I really liked the concept of sliding AND AT THIS VERY MOMENT I JUST SAW THAT THERE IS A SEQUAL AND I AM GOING TO BUY IT RIGHT NOW. Ok, so the ending was fine then because I'm sure everything will end up great in the next one. Wow, I could've sworn that the title did not have (Slide, #1) next to it yesterday. Off to read Imposter!
Zoo (The Enclosure Chronicles, #1) - Tara Elizabeth See more of my reviews at We Live and Breathe BooksWhen I first read the concept of Zoo I was instantly intrigued, and the book did not disappoint. The idea of a human zoo is something I never could have imagined until reading this book and experiencing being enclosed with Emma. I really loved Emma's voice throughout the book. She's so sassy and sarcastic, but sensitive as well - the perfect balance between the hard-headed heroine and a scared teenage girl. I found myself often laughing or agreeing with her throughout her adventures in the enclosure. Tara Elizabeth was able to perfectly capture a teenage girl thrown from an easy existence into this strange society where humans are kept in captivity (and I would know since I'm Emma's age and I definitely would have reacted the way she did). And then there's Kale, who is so beyond perfect. I really enjoyed reading about these characters and I hope to see more of them in the future. Thank you, once again, to the author for giving me a free digital copy of this book, allowing me to bump it up on my reading list and experience such a unique and captivating story.
Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) - Cassandra Clare Wow. What is there to say about Clockwork Princess? While I was enjoying every page, every word of this book, I feared my heart could not handle it and I would surely die from the feels. When the characters were sad, I was sad. When the characters were happy, I was still sad, but in a sad-about-what-happened-but-happy-for-the-current-situation way (confusing, I know). What struck me the most was the depth of the emotion I had while reading this book; it gave me feelings I'm not even sure I've ever experienced in life - real, heart-wrenching lose, pain, heartbreak - and I found myself crying through most of the book (in a good way, of course). The spectrum of emotions that Cassie gives the reader throughout the book is almost too wonderful. I felt undeserving of her words, of the beauty of this series coming to an end with Clockwork Princess. The end of Princess leaves nothing to be desired - every end is tied up - and, although bittersweet as others have been saying, is beautiful (I wish I could find another word to describe this book, but this is the one that comes to mind). I am definitely sad to see these characters go (almost unbearably so), but they will live on forever in my heart, as well as the heart of other fans (and, hopefully, some will make an appearance in future books).
Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles, #4) - Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl When I first started reading this book I was a little put off by the plot line. Ethan dead? I was so hoping he wouldn't have died (again) and I was so upset to see that he died. I didn't quite understand how an entire book could be about a dead guy. But the more I read, I fell in love with the story. The parts about the Caster Chronicles were really interesting and kind of creepy. I was sad that Amma died, and I wished she had gotten time to be reunited with Ethan before she went through the void, but ultimately, it was the best thing. As much as I kept crying throughout the end, Beautiful Redemption was very sweet. It was extremely uplifting (especially the epilogue) and made me want to go out and live my life to the fullest.
Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles, #3) - Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl Wow, talk about cliff hangers on this one! It's a good thing I already have Beautiful Redemption because, otherwise, I would probably just sit around and cry about it for(pretty much)ever. When Beautiful Chaos ended, I felt like I was falling along with Ethan, and all of a sudden, BAM! it's over. I loved finding out more about John Breed, but I hope there is even more coming! Learning about the Far Keep was interesting as well. I love Link and Ridley together so much. I wasn't entirely happy with how they played out, but I hope that all will be corrected in the next book. Linkubus is genius. I can't help but wonder if the authors named him Link just so he could be Linkubus. These books keep getting better and better, and I'm anxious to see how the story ends!
Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2) - Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl This book really gave me a new appreciation for love triangles. Usually, when I'm reading a book, the main character/speaker is the one choosing between two people. And, as the reader, I LOVE to have an opinion on who the character should end up with. Reading from the perspective of someone who is one of the options is so much more frustrating. I found myself angry at Lena because she was giving Ethan the cold shoulder. (I suddenly feel bad for all those characters in other books...). On another note, I thought Beautiful Creatures was crazy, but I didn't know crazy until Beautiful Darkness. My mind was seriously blown with every advance in this book. Ethan is a Wayward? Ethan's mom was in love with Macon? John Breed is some sort of hybrid? Abraham is alive? Ridley lost her powers? Lucille is a Caster animal? Macon is alive? LINK IS AN INCUBUS?! Mind. Blown. My mind was so blown by this book that I refuse to even try to speculate what's going to happen in the next book because if I think something is going to happen, I'm just going to be more surprised by what happens. (Not that this is a bad thing. It's totally great. I love not being able to predict what's going to happen (Unlike Ethan when he watches movies... Ha, I think I'm funny)). I can't wait to see what happens in Beautiful Chaos. Hopefully there is some more Ridley/Link action and more information about the mysterious John Breed!
Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) - Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl This book pulled me in from the second I started reading all the way until the end. Even though my initial thought of the book, based on the synopsis and the movie advertisements, was that it was simply a love story about a Caster and a normal boy, once I started reading, I realized how wrong I was. The mystery aspect of the book really kept me enticed and anxious to find out the secrets behind Lena's family. I, also, really enjoyed the characters, especially nearing the end. Ridley and Amma really became fuller characters at the end of the book (in my opinion). Ridley showing real emotions during the balcony scene pleasantly surprised me. Also, Amma's reaction to Macon's death really broke my heart. I'd love to read a story about the two of them when they were younger. Overall, I really loved Beautiful Creatures. It was unlike anything I've ever read before and gave a really interesting twist on witches.
Prodigy - Marie Lu Prodigy was a spectacular follow up to Legend. From start to finish, the book kept me on my toes and anxious to find out what was going to happen with June, Day, and Anden. I really liked finding out more about the Colonies and Kaede's origins. I still can't believe that Razor was working for the Republic. Some seriously sick people were in charge of that place. The ending seriously broke my heart. I just wish Day would have explained what was going on to June! He was definitely trying to stay strong, but June would have been there for him, and would have helped with Eden too. I don't know how I am going to survive until the next book comes out, but I can't wait!
Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies, #1) - Isaac Marion When I saw a trailer for a movie about a zombie who comes back to life because of love, I was intrigued and told myself I needed to see the movie when it came out. THEN my friend informed me that it was also a book, so I knew that I HAD to read it, and I do not regret reading it one bit! I really loved Warm Bodies. Besides having a great story, the book was also very thought provoking - it made me really think about the world and the way we live. I think some of it might have gone over my head, but I plan to reread this in the future, so I hope that I'll be able to understand it better then. I, also, really enjoyed Julie's character. She was seriously kick-ass. Overall, I think everyone should read Warm Bodies, especially if they like a good love story and some food for thought!
The Kill Order (Maze Runner, #0.5) - James Dashner After reading the Maze Runner trilogy, it was really cool to see how that world came to be through the eyes of someone living through it. Although I didn't necessarily like Mark as much as I liked Thomas, it was really interesting to see his reactions to what was happening and his courage in the face of danger. The characters in The Kill Order are truly survivors - they did so much just to make it another day. To me, the best part was probably the epilogue. I was hoping that there would be more information about what happened with Deedee after she went through the flat trans, maybe if she ended up being part of the maze trials (I have a theory that she ends up being Teresa). Also, some of the stuff with Trina not remembering Mark and then all of a sudden remembering who he was as they were dying seemed odd to me. Overall, I really enjoyed the innovative end-of-world story that Dashner created throughout the Maze Runner trilogy, and it was great to see how it all started.
The Death Cure - James Dashner Crazy stuff went down in this book. I really liked finding out more about WICKED, although I wish there had been more about Thomas' role in the Trials. The ending was something I really didn't expect. I was really hoping they would be able to find a cure, but I liked the ending the way it played out. I actually had a hunch that The Flare wasn't actually spread by accident, but that was shocking too. I wish there had been more about Chancellor Paige, too, because she seemed awesome. Also, since I'm already in the spoiler, Newt's death was so tragic. When they went to visit him in the Crank Palace and when Thomas shot him, I was bawling my eyes out. That seriously broke my heart, probably even more than Chuck's death. I was actually kind of surprised by how little I felt when Teresa died, though. I guess after how Newt died, her death wasn't really that tragic. I'm excited to start The Kill Order soon to find out more about the sun flares.
